For numerous years up until her failing health she was the minister of music for the Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Association, and the Ministers Deacons & Layman's Union.

After integration, she taught at Thomas Jefferson School, and then on to Stonewall Jackson Elementary in Bristol Virginia. During her tenure she was named Teacher of the Year. Georgia was a strong advocate for education. Although she had no children, she considered all children her own. Georgia retired from her love of teaching after 40 years of dedicated service.
