Jackson A. "Jack" Heath, 87, passed away December 8, 2016. Jack was a 60 year member of the St. James Lutheran Church. He was a member of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War. Mr. Heath was best known as owner/operator at Friendship Pavers which he ran with his son Dwane for over 30 years. One special accomplishment he was proud of was being part of the class that helped designate the Chilhowie Warriors orange and black colors as well as the school annuals name of "Chivalee". He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland A. Heath and Martha Reedy Heath; sisters, Thelma H. Palmer and Sunshine H. Tilson; and a brother, Eugene Heath. Survivors include his loving wife Jane Troxell Heath; son, Dwane Heath and wife Martha Lynn of Chilhowie; daughter, Elaine Heath Hensley and husband Tracy of Chilhowie; three grandchildren, Bradley Heath, Kayla Gaytan, and Jason Stamper; five great grandchildren; sisters, Freda H. Dolinger, Shelby H. Blevins and husband Russell, and Sue H. Baker; brother-in-law, Bill Palmer; sister-in-law, Dorothy Prater; special friends, Edwin Naff, Daniel Shuler, Tim Watson, Jerry Ratliff, Jim Overbay, Ronnie Adams, and Larry Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at the St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Harvey Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie.
