Jackson Carmack "JC" Martin, 90, became "Lucky" July 10, 2018, as he left this earthly home to meet the Lord, and those who have previously made that journey.
He was born May 25, 1928 to the late Courtney K. Martin and Zella Elswick Martin. JC lived his entire life in Smyth County, Va except for the time that he loyally served his country in the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Martin; brothers, Paul Gray, Neal Martin, Kinnard Martin; and sister, Edith "Cindy" Mason.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Erma Blevins Martin; daughters, Donna Chappell and husband Marty of Ennice, N.C., Carolyn Clarke and husband Charlie of Chilhowie; grandchildren, Sarah Hanrahan and husband Gavin of Lynchburg, Va., Jonathan Combs and Becky Erpelding of Winston Salem, N.C., Heather Holmes and husband Duane of Chilhowie, Va., Charles Jackson "CJ" of Mocksville, N.C., Caleb Clarke and Morgan Lineberry of Salisbury, N.C.; great grandchildren, Zoe Hanrahan, Ian Hanrahan, Piper Combs, and Isabella Chappell; In addition to the numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, JC was also survived by a former son-in-law, Bobby Combs and wife Susan; special cousin, Max Jones, who visited him faithfully; and special friend, Kenny Blevins and wife Gail.
Memorial services will be conducted 7 PM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Halsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Home Nursing Company of Chilhowie for their loving care of Mr. Martin.
