Mary Etta Kilby Cress, 70, went to Heaven on January 8, 2017. She passed away peacefully after a brief battle with lung cancer. Mary was born on January 29, 1946 to the late Tracy and Clyde Kilby. Mary Etta was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles and Darrell Kilby. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, William Douglas Cress of Chilhowie; four children, Doug Cress Jr. and wife Andrea of Tampa, Fla., Traci Terry and husband Joe, Patty Blevins and husband Steve, and Bob Cress and wife Jessica all of Chilhowie; two special sisters, Brenda Sauls and husband Zane and Erma Blevins and husband D.I., all of Chilhowie; one brother, Richard Kilby and wife Louise of Knoxville, TN., sisters-in-law, Lola Pennington of Marion, Ruth Yule of Falls Mills, Va., Betty Mae Ward of Sevierville, TN., Marie Kilby of Chilhowie, and Pat Kilby of Milford, Del., and several nieces and nephews. The proud "Mamaw" of nine grandsons and one granddaughter, Mary Etta loved her family more than anything and enjoyed cooking for everyone. Funeral services will be conducted 7 PM Wednesday, January 11 at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Larry Blevins and Rev. Bill Frazier officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1 PM Thursday, January 12 at the Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home or at any time at their home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
