Love Emblem

Patsy Aker, 101, went to be with her Lord and saw Him face to face on Friday, May 10, 2019 at home in Roanoke, Virginia.
She was the perfect example of the woman in Proverbs 31, whose worth was far above rubies, always providing for her family and all those around her. She was a faithful prayer warrior and always wanted those around her to know Jesus. She taught Sunday School at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church in Marion, VA, Child Evangelism in her home and led many Bible studies. Her smile was endearing and infectious. Her children and grandchildren certainly do rise and call her blessed!
She was born August 27, 1917, in Chilhowie, Virginia, daughter of the late Abijah Crutchfield and Grace Harris Crutchfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Aker; her son, Ernest Michael Aker; her grandson, Timothy Barker and five brothers and sisters. Patsy is survived by her son, Tommy Aker and daughter-in-law Marie of Murrells Inlet, SC; her daughter, Jean Barker and son-in-law Wally of Roanoke, Virginia. Survivors also include her grandchildren, Deborah Baucom, Amy Rankin, Jennifer Doyle and David Barker. Great grandchildren include Brian Barker, Marlee Baucom Lee, Davis Barker, Kelly Baucom, Jordan Doyle, Spencer Rankin, Phoebe Barker, Megan Doyle, Jackson Barker, Lily Rankin, McKinley Barker and Mary Katherine Rankin. She also had many favorite nieces and nephews.
For the past seven years she had been under the loving care of her daughter, Jean and son-in-law Wally and enjoyed the fellowship of her friends at Cave Spring Baptist Church.
We want to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Lindsey, Sherry and Allie and the many others who provided compassionate care for her.
The funeral service will be held at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church in Marion, VA on Friday, May 17 at 12:00 noon with visitation/reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Make a Wish Foundation in honor of her great grandchildren or the charity of your choice. Williams Funeral Home of Chilhowie is serving the Aker Family.
