Thomas L. Hutton Jr. passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Thomas L. Hutton and Rosalie "Jim Lee" Hutton. Tom was educated in the public schools in Washington County, Va. After completing high school he graduated from Emory and Henry College and the School of Law at the University of Virginia. After practicing law for four years he was appointed as a part time Washington County Judge, which made him the youngest judge in Virginia at the time. In July 1978 he became a full time General District Court Judge and remained as such until his retirement on July 31, 2002. Tom was a lifelong member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church and was a lifelong farmer. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Hall Hutton; his sister, Anne P. Hutton; special friend, Ralph Colley and others who helped with farming and his caregiving; several cousins also survive. Graveside services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday, March 9, 2017 in the Mausoleum at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon with Rev. Tim Bird officiating. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy donations be made to persons in need or to the charity of your choice.
