Charles A. Brooks, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home in Chilhowie surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy J. Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Bill Jackson of Moneta, Va.; granddaughter, Katherine Brooke Lyons of Dayton, OH.; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Rachel Brooks of Marion, Va.; two nieces, Debbie Blevins of Saltville, Va., and Teresa Dunford and husband Johnny of Marion, Va. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews and great great grand nieces and nephews. Mr. Brooks was a lifelong resident of Cleghorn Valley and a very faithful member of the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 7 PM Sunday, March 3 at the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Eller officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, March 3 prior to the funeral service at the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Dunford, Wesley Sullivan, Ferrell Stanley, Phillip Puckett, Joe Puckett, and Dean Woods.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church, 295 Cleghorn Valley Rd., Marion, Va. 24354. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.williamsfuneralhomeofchilhowie.com.
